- The Smith & Nephew Melolin Low Adherent Absorbent Dressing is a low adherent highly absorbent dressing
- The Smith & Nephew Melolin Low Adherent Absorbent Dressing consists of 3 layers
◦ A non adherent perforated polyester film
◦ Highly absorbent cotton & acrylic fibre pad which is heat bonded to one side of the film
◦ Hydrophobic backing layer - The low adherent film reduces trauma to the healing tissue by allowing rapid drainage of exudate
- The Smith & Nephew Melolin Low Adherent Absorbent Dressing provides patient comfort as there is little pain on removal. It retains shape integrity when cut
- Indicated uses:
◦ Management of a wide variety of light to moderately exuding wounds in post operative & casualty situations
◦ Cleaned sutured wounds
◦ Abrasions & Lacerations
◦ Minor burns - Precautions:
◦ The dressing needs to be changed daily or even more often depending on the condition of the wound
◦ Medical advice should be sought immediately in case redness or discomfort occurs especially for serious wounds & burns - Available in 3 sizes:
◦ Bulk & Non sterile - 50 cm X 7 meters
◦ Sterile - 20 cm X 10 cm, come in a standard packing of 100 dressings per pack
◦ Sterile - 10 cm X 10 cm, come in a standard packing of 100 dressings per pack
