Urometer

The physical properties of urine was measured using a Urometer, which is a variety of hydrometer. The number, density, and weight of the solute particles present in the urine are used to calculate specific velocity,' which is a measure of the kidney's focusing power. Only one or two droplets of urine are required, and there is no need to adjust the temperature. The frequency of a sound wave entering a solution changes in proportion to the density of the solution, according to the principle of harmonic oscillation densitometry.
