What is Philips AED ?

The Philips AED (Automated external defibrillator) is a critical device that is used on people who are suffering from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

This generally happens when a problem with the heart's electrical activity causes irregular heartbeat. The heart stops beating because the heartbeat is irregular, which stops the heart from pumping blood as it should.

Why Choose Philips AEDs?

  • Philips automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are ready to act when you are.
  • They provide the treatment of the most common cause of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) by delivering a shock quickly and effectively, wherever SCA happens.
  • Philips AEDs guide you through the rescue process, including CPR and how to initiate an electrical current if recommended.
  • Philips AED devices are designed for every use type, whether inside or outside, in varying environments so you can help save a life anytime, anywhere.

  2. Expose the Chest: Remove clothing from the chest. Make sure the skin is dry. Shave chest hair if needed (some AED kits include a razor).
  3. Attach the Pads:
  • Peel the pads from the backing.
  • Place one pad on the upper right side of the chest (below collarbone).
  • Place the second pad on the lower left side of the chest (below armpit).
  • Make sure pads stick well and don’t touch each other.

Let the AED Analyze: The AED will check the heart rhythm automatically. Don’t touch the patient during analysis.
Deliver the Shock (if advised): If a shock is needed, the AED will tell you. Press the flashing orange “Shock” button when prompted.
Continue CPR: After the shock (or if no shock is advised), start CPR if trained. Follow the AEDs voice instructions—it may guide you with CPR timing too.

Precautions for Philips AED:

Device handling - Philips AED is built to be strong and reliable, but rough handling can damage it or its parts and cancel the warranty.

Check the device and its accessories regularly for any damage as per the instructions.

Maintenance - Improper maintenance may damage the Philips AED machine or cause it to function improperly. Maintain it according to directions.

Skin burns - AED pads should not touch each other, wires, medicine patches, or dressings, as this can cause burns or reduce the shock's effect.

Make sure the pads stick well to the skin to avoid air pockets, which can also lead to burns during a shock. Always check that the pads are not dried out or expired, as they won’t provide proper contact with the skin.

Patient handling - Before delivering a shock, it is important to disconnect the patient from other medical electrical equipment, such as blood-flow meters, that may not incorporate defibrillation protection.
